Reliance Jio 4G Voice App Launched In Apple Store in Mumbai And Karnataka for iPhone Users

After much anticipation, Jio4GVoice App has made its way to Apple App Store. With this, the hurdle for the older iPhone users (due to the lack of VoLTE support) to use Jio 4G SIM card to make/receive calls is cleared.

The Jio4GVoice app for iPhone users is in its nascent stage and is available for download only for Mumbai and Karnataka users. Also, the subscribers’ devices should be running iOS 8 or above. This implies that Apple iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, and below can download the app. Apple iPhone 6, 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, iPhone 7, and 7 Plus already have support for VoLTE

Meanwhile, there are complaints from many Apple users that some of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are unable to use the voice calling service in Jio network. Aforesaid, the application is in its developing stage, and it will take some time for the company to add all the features available in the Android app. Till then, if you’re an old iPhone user and installed the Jio4GVoice app on your phone, please let us know the experience by commenting below.

Jio4GVoice app has some interesting features under-the-hood. You can instantly message to your friends who are currently using the Jio4GVoice app without any additional charges. With the Jio4GVoice app, the company is promising quality voice calls, and the application also has support for video calling.
Another highlight feature of the Jio4GVoice is ‘Rich Calls’ in which the users can display real-time images, their current location to make the calls more interactive. Jio4GVoice also has a feature named ‘In Call Share’ under which callers can share doodles, sketch something within the dialer itself and all these will be displayed on the receivers dialer in real time.
Besides Jio4GVoice app, the company also has other digital content applications such as JioCinema, JioMusic, JioPlay, JioMoney, etc., which are already available for iOS.

Cab Companies Uber, Ola rival soon: Reliance Jio Cabs gearing up for 2017 launch soon..

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has plans to launch an app-based taxi service as early as this year and has ordered some 600 cars to kickstart the service. The service is likely to be called Reliance Jio Cabs.
The launch of the taxi service will depend on the commercial launch of the Jio telecom service, which is currently slated for April. “The plan is to launch after April but it might take up to six months more depending how the commercial rollout pans out,” a source at Reliance Industries, which owns Reliance Jio told FactorDaily.
The company is likely to compete in the taxi service segment with aggressive pricing and has roped in consulting firm E&Y to come up with pricing strategies that align with Reliance Industries Chairman Ambani’s plans to “go all out to get market share,” said the source.
Ambani on Tuesday announced that commercial rollout of Jio’s telecom service will begin from 1 April. At a press conference in Mumbai, Ambani, the richest man in India, had said that the Jio has crossed 100 million subscribers.
Another source at Reliance Industries said that the company has ordered cars for its own fleet from makers such as Mahindra and Hyundai. “They have placed orders for nearly 600 cars,” this source said. The idea is to operate its own fleet of cars along with independent cab drivers who can attach their cars to the Reliance Jio Cabs network.
Rumours that the company is planning to take on Uber and Ola with Jio Cabs has been doing the rounds for more than a year now. A company spokesperson, however, told FactorDaily that it’s “speculation,” and refused to comment. Update: Reliance spokesperson Rohit Bansal said on Twitter on Saturday that it is “WRONG AND DENIED.”
Jio is planning to launch the services in Bangalore and Chennai first and then move on to Delhi and Mumbai, the first source said. “South India is a better market for to start. Slowly it will move on to north,” he added. The company will pursue a “mixed market strategy,” where in it not only goes after major cities but also smaller cities like Bhopal and Jaipur.
Reliance’ Jio Cabs will have an “Uber like” app and development is already underway. As per the source, the company is still exploring the payment system for drivers. It is likely to use Jio Money, its own mobile wallet.
The entry of Reliance into the telecom market, with free calling and data in India, has had major impact on the profitability and stock prices of rival telecom operators. It is also driving a wave of consolidation in the market.
Taxi companies served nearly 500 million rides in 2016, up from 130 million rides in 2015, according to a report by market research and advisory firm RedSeer in February. Some like financier SoftBank Group have predicted that Indian cab aggregator market is poised to touch $7 billion by 2020 — a market that is currently dominated by homegrown Ola and global rival Uber.
The launch of Reliance Jio Cabs comes at time when Ola and Uber face regulatory hurdles and protests by their drivers in different parts of country.

Bharti Airtel Offering 10 GB Additional Internet Data at Rs.100 soon..

Airtel is reportedly offering its postpaid customers up to 10GB additional 3G or 4G data at just Rs. 100. The move by Airtel can be seen as an after effect of Reliance Jio Prime subscription plan announcement made on Tuesday.
Update: Airtel has saying that the 10GB data offer has been available to select users for few weeks and is not a new offer.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday revamped the company's Reliance Jio offerings and announced the new Reliance Jio Prime subscription that will offer unlimited services at a nominal price. Airtel's latest move will mean that postpaid subscribers in India will be able to opt for the additional data benefit by just paying Rs. 100. It's worth mentioning that Airtel postpaid subscribers to avail the 10GB 4G data at just Rs. 100 will need to have a 4G smartphone
As before, Airtel is likely to offer 4G services in nearly 22 circles in India, and for the other non-4G circles, the company will provide 3G data against this offer. Similar to Airtel's earlier offers, the new "Surprise Offer" may require users to avail the free benefit via the MyAirtel app. The 10GB data is likely to be valid only for 28 days.
The Airtel offer was first reported by India Today Tech, and it added that the "Surprise Offer" by the telecom company will be in addition to an existing plan subscribed by the postpaid customers. Unfortunately, Airtel's offer of 10GB data at just Rs. 100 isn't available to all postpaid users. Gadgets 360 has written to Airtel to get a clarification on the new "Surprise offer."
This is not the first time when Airtel has bumped the data offering at a minimal price. Last year, Airtel offered up to 10GB data at a price of Rs. 259

Mukesh Ambani: Reliance Jio's Next 100 Million Subscribers ..

Well done, Mukesh Ambani. In just 170 days, the richest Indian has signed up 100 million customers for his fourth-generation mobile service. That growth, bruising rivals and triggering a wave of industry consolidation, was explosive but predictable - Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd. was offering Jio for free.
Time taken to reach 100 million Jio subscribers? 170 days. Progress will be harder now.
The existing median revenue per user of leading Indian telcos such as Bharti Airtel is about $4.50 a month, according to Credit Suisse Group AG, very close to the introductory price that Ambani announced. That median is bound to shift lower as rivals try to prevent their better-paying customers from switching to Jio.
If Ambani can double the number of subscribers, and get at least $4 from each of them, investors who endured seven lean years will get a decent harvest. Anything less, and Wednesday's market euphoria over Reliance may be short-lived.
Jio's cost has been a drag on Reliance's valuation. Five years after leaving the original mobile business to his younger brother as part of a family settlement, the oil tycoon re-entered the field in June 2010. At the time, analysts expected him to spend $5 billion. But the next generation, Internet-based data network he went on to build has cost five times as much, and Ambani isn't done yet.
By 2019, Jio may account for about $30 billion (roughly Rs. 2,00,464 crores), or 40 percent of the total capital employed at Reliance, with energy and petrochemicals making up the rest.
A dollar of capital at Indian telcos used to produce roughly half a dollar in sales, according to Saira Ansari at IDFC Securities in Mumbai. That may no longer be possible because of the price war. Assume that Jio aims to garner $10 billion in revenue from $30 billion in capital. With each subscriber bringing in $4 a month, or roughly $50 a year, it would take 200 million subscribers to hit that goal.
And that doubling of the subscriber base may still fail to delight investors. Ansari's note assumes a pretax margin (before interest) of 28 percent, higher than the industry average. This Ebit of $2.8 billion will translate into a 9 percent-plus return on $30 billion in capital, compared with the double-digit returns the company was chalking up before it embarked on the Jio investment.
Still, as Ambani says, data is the new oil. Extending that analogy, the "refining margin" the tycoon can earn from a customer who uses the service to watch Facebook videos may be low, while it may be high for those who dip into their accounts at the soon-to-be-launched Jio Payments Bank to fill up their JioMoney mobile wallets to pay for Uber rides.
To win in fintech, Ambani may need to invest even beyond his current plans. However, that conversation with investors must wait. For now, shareholders are just happy the lean years are over - even if the fat ones aren't here yet.

Mukesh Ambani: Reliance Jio to end free services from 1st April 2017

Reliance Jio’s freebies have been the biggest reason why the company has been able to garner 100 million subscribers in next to no time. But these freebies are finally coming to an end. Unlike what was rumored before, Jio won’t be extending its Happy New Year offer, which will come to an end on March 31, 2017.
From April 1, Jio users will have to switch to regular tariff plans that were announced during the commercial launch last year. These tariff plans start from as low as Rs 19 for prepaid users or Rs 149 for postpaid users. Prepaid tariffs go up to Rs 1,499 per month that offers 20GB mobile data (unlimited usage at night), 40GB Wi-Fi data, access to Jio apps, free voice calls and texting. Postpaid tariffs go up to Rs 4,999 per billing cycle, wherein users get 75GB mobile data, 150GB Wi-Fi data, access to Jio apps, free voice calls and texting. To continue disrupting the telecom market in India, Jio has promised ‘every-day more value’, wherein it will continue to offer up to 20 percent more mobile data than incumbent players.
Before ending his speech, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani had an interesting announcement for existing Reliance Jio customers. Called ‘Jio Prime Membership’, existing Jio users will be able to reap the benefits of the freebies for an year by paying Rs 99 between March 1 and March 31 via the MyJio app, Jio.com or visiting any Jio store. To continue using the current data offer of 1GB per day for another year, Jio Prime members will need to pay Rs 303 per month, which comes down to about Rs 10 per day. As a part of the Jio Prime Membership, users will continue to get free voice calls, text messaging, and Jio’s bouquet of content services for the enrolled time period.
